“From Images To Memories”

Some of my main camera tools for shooting weddings

Some of you won’t take much interest in this one but here are some my tools to capture sharp high quality images for you. It was taken with a pocket camera so don’t expect too much as for quality.
Left to right
2-430exII flashes
2-580Ex II flashes
Pocket Wizard Flex TT5-Canon TTL flash trigger system
Canon EF 15mm F/2.8 Fisheye Lens (Red cap) (no longer made as of 2011, great lens!)
Canon EF 70-200 F/2.8L IS II Lens (Grey one)
Canon EF 24-70 F/2.8L USM Lens
Canon 50 F1.2 L Lens

Now right to left
Canon Eos 5D
Canon EOS 5D Mark III (Brand New camera in the middle)
Canon EOS 1D Mark III (large on in the middle)
There are studio flashes and a bunch of other stuff but that wouldn’t be fun to get in the picture. 🙂
I use Sanyo Eneloop Batteries for all my flashes but Powerex batteries are awesome too!
I use a Sekonic L-358 light meter for studio and photo booth setups.
For carrying my cameras i got away from all the supposed best camera straps out there and went with a spiderpro belt system which allows me to securely hook my cameras to my waist, it’s way better than choking myself with camera straps as i move around. I usually have two cameras at all times.

I use a big rolling Pelican Case 1610 to haul my stuff to and fro.

Greg and Sarah’s wedding at Thornapple Creek Golf Course

Greg and Sarah’s wedding and reception took place at the Thornapple Creek Golf Club, it is a very scenic location! There are golf carts to take the wedding party out for a photo cruise where you can find many interesting and scenic views for your wedding party photos.

Josh and Erin

Love this couple, we met over some great coffee and from there just felt like friends. We started the day off at Design One Hair Salon doing some girls getting their hair and makeup done. The Design One staff were very pleasant and allowed me freedom to move around. We then did the getting ready at Orchard Hill Church where Josh and Erin met for the first time that morn all dressed up. We drove around in the party bus doing fun photos and group shots all around GR. The Ceremony followed at Orchard Hill Church. After the ceremony we went to Riverside Park and did some toasts and group photos and it was a good time! Upon arriving at my fav restaurant San Chez Bistro for the reception the wedding party donned the funny glasses with noses and mustaches for the whole wedding party in front of their party bus. Gotta love good props!

Philosophy, Marketing, Wedding Photography and Hiring a photographer

You know I have missed out on many potential clients because of missed connections, I have done many diff marketing things to boost public awareness of my brand and it has cost me a pretty penny at that. I guess I have myself to blame for not being a voice and providing images for people to view in blogs on a regular basis. I believe in the quality of my work and the passion i have for it but more importantly the goal has always been to provide my clients with images that aren’t dated or out of style but beautiful crisp colorful images that jump at you with life and soul. Thats what I set out to do and getting there is all about connecting with my clients on a personal level and doing my best to understand what they want and possibly offer things they haven’t considered. Developing that connection is something every bride should be looking for when hiring a photographer. Its def important the images the photographer shows you are top notch but its also really important that you feel some connection. Yes this is a business but its a business about romance, love, soul connections, these are some of the things that brought you to the point of saying yes to someone and these are the things your photographer should draw out of you for amazing lifestyle photos on your wedding day.
